What was your childhood or earliest ambition?
Find a place in the world. Today my ambition is to take care of my close friends and family.
Who was or still is your mentor?
My mother, in terms of respecting people and respecting work. Outside the family, Christian and Denis, who showed an interest in me at time. They always helped me to keep faith in me.
How physically fit are you?
I train each two day. At my age, it’s more about being fit than looking fit. I’m pretty lean, I’m cut that way, but I don’t take it for granted.
Ambition or talent: which matters more to success?
With an ambition you do things well and finish them by hard work. With the talent you reach the stars
Have you ever taken an IQ test?
I can’t remember! Why?
Do you have more than one home?
One is my flat in Moudon (Switzerland), the other is behind my turntables
What’s your biggest extravagance?
I was young a day…many extravagances at that time. I think to have my own home on the top of a mountain and think it’s the last I’ll make
In what place are you happiest?
Behind turntables and also love Swiss mountains (Alps)
What drives you on?
I am a bit of a control freak.. In 90’s, first raves I organized or played as a dj, 10 to 30 people turned up. Others people would have given up but rather than doing things without brain, I learned the patience and, with time, the experience. I wanted to reach my goals with keeping my own mindset. I never forget of wher I’m at.
What were the toughest struggles in kick starting your music career?
I've had many struggles in my journey, the worst being that most people who I came in contact with told me that I'm no good and I will never make it as a dj. They used to tell me that it’s nothing and that I shouldn't waste my time. Needles to say that I kept on going because I truly believed in myself and today I'm really happy that I ignored all those naysayers.
What are the struggles that you experience now that you "made" it?
I don't consider myself as a success yet & I probably never will... I'm very afraid of becoming lazy so I keep telling myself that I still have a long way to go. Even if life is short, you never know who will cross your way and potentially give new directions. Sky is the limit!
What has been your greatest disappointment?
Had a car accident in ’96 and was not able to mix, even no to hear music. By working hard, I recovered
If your 20-year-old self could see you now, what would he think?
Well done mate!
If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do?
When I was 24, after the car accident I wasn’t able to write my own name on a piece of paper. So, I’m ready to lose everything again, with more experience
Do you have any helpful tips for struggling djs?
The best skill that a dj can have is perseverance, to keep on going when the world seems to be going against you. So the best tip I can give you is to never quit and always trust your gut.
Any closing thoughts?
I want to say how grateful I am for my mother, my friends Warpy & Warpo and my country. Less conflicts of races and hatred would be cool. Thanks for spreading the love.
